Prayer to Lord Krsna 

 

  (From the Narada-Pancaratna)

 

 

Text 1

 

 

vande nava-ghana-syamam

    pita-kauseya-vasasam

sanandam sundaram suddham

    sri-krsnam prakateh param

 

    vande - I offer respectful obeisances; nava - fresh; ghana - rain-cloud; syamam - dark; pita - yellow; kauseya - exquisite; vasasam - garments; sa - with; anandam - bliss; sundaram - beautiful; suddham - pure; sri-Krsnam - Sri Krsna; prakateh - the material energy; param - above.

 

 

    I offer respectful obeisances to Sri Krsna, who is as dark as a fresh rain-cloud and who is decorated with exquisite yellow garments. He is blissful, handsome, pure, and He is above the inferior material energy.

 

 

Text 2

 

 

radhesam radhika-prana-

    vallabham ballavi-sutam

radha-sevita-padabjam

    radha - vakrah-sthala-sthitam

 

    radha - of radha; isam - the lord; radhika - to radha; prana - life; vallabham - dear; ballavi - of the gopi (Yasoda); sutam - the son; radha - by radha; sevita - served; pada - feet; abjam - lotus; radha - radha; vakrah-sthala - on the chest; sthitam - situated.

 

 

    Sri Krsna is the Lord of radha, and He is very dear to Her. He is son of Yasoda-gopi, and radha serves His lotus feet. radha stays upon His chest.

 

 

Text 3

 

 

radhanugam radhikertam

    radhapahata-manasam

radhadharam bhavadharam

    sarvadharam namami tam

 

    radha - radha; anugam - the follower; radhika - by Radha; irtam - worshiped; radha - by radha; apahata - stolen away; manasam - mind; radha - of radha; adharam - the support; bhava - of the material world;l adharam - the support; sarva - of everything; adharam - the support; namami - I offer respectful obeisances; tam - to Him.

 

 

    I offer respectful obeisances to Sri Krsna, who is followed and worshiped by radha. Although He is maintainer of everything including radha and also the material worlds, radha has stolen away His heart.

 

 

Text 4

 

 

radha-hat-padma-madhye ca

    vasantam santam subham

radha-sahacaram sasvad-

    radhajna-paripalikam

 

    radha - of radha; hat - of the heart; madhye - in the middle; ca - and; vasantam - residing; santatam - continuously; subham - auspicious; radha - of radha; sahacaram - companion; sasvat - always; radha - of radha; ajna - of the orders; paripalikam - the protector.

 

 

    Auspicious Krsna always remains in the middle of the lotus flower which is radha's heart. He is Her dear friend and He always faithfully carries out Her orders.

 

 

Text 5

 

 

dhyayante yogino yogan

    siddhah siddhesvaras ca yam

tam dhyayet satatam suddham

    bhagavantam sanatanam

 

    dhyayante - meditate; yoginah - the yogis; yogan - yoga; siddhah - the siddhas; siddha-isvareh - the masters of mystics powers; ca - and; yam - on whom; tam - on Him; dhyayet - may meditate; satatam - constantly; suddham - pure; bhagavantam - Supreme Personality of Godhead; sanatanam - eternal.

 

 

    The yogis, siddhas and masters of mystic power all meditate upon Krsna. One should therefore also constantly meditate upon Him, the eternal and pure Supreme Personality of Godhead.

 

 

Text 6

 

 

sevante satatam santo

    brahmesa-sesa-samjnakah

sevante nirgunam brahma

    bhagavantam sanatanam

 

    sevante - they serve; satatam - constantly; santah - the saintly devotees; brahma - Lord Brahma; isa - Lord Siva; sesa - Lord Sesa; samjnakah - named; sevante - they serve; nirgunam - without any material qualities; brahma - the Supreme spirit; bhagavantam - the Supreme Personality of Godhead; sanatanam - eternal.

 

 

    The saintly devotees, headed by Lord Brahma, Lord Siva and Lord Sesa all serve Lord Krsna, the eternal Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is the supreme spirit, beyond the influence of the modes of material nature.

 

 

Text 7

 

 

nirliptam ca niriham ca

    paramatmanam isvaram

nityam satyam ca paramam

    bhagavantam sanatanam

    nirliptam - untouched by the material nature; ca - and; niriham - without any material endeavors; ca - and; parama-atmanam - the supersoul; isvaram - the supreme controller; nityam - eternal; satyam - the supreme truth; ca - and; parama - supreme; bhagavantam - the Supreme Personality of Godhead; sanatanam - eternal.

 

 

    Lord Krsna is untouched by the material nature, and He is free from all material activities. He is the supersoul and the supreme controller, the supreme eternal living entity, the supreme truth, and the eternal Supreme Personality of Godhead.

 

 

Text 8

 

 

yam sarter adibhutam ca

    sarva-bijam parat param

yoginas tam prapadyante

    bhagavantam sanatanam

 

    yam - whom; sarteh - of the material creation; adibhutam - the source; ca - and; sarva - of everything; bijam - the seed; parat - than the highest; param - higher; yoginah - the yogis; tam - to Him; prapadyante - surrender; bhagavantam - the Supreme Lord; sanatanam - eternal.

 

 

    Lord Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead, the source of the material creation, and the seed of everything. There is nothing higher than Him and the yogis surrender unto Him.

 

 

Text 9

 

 

bijam nanavataranam

    sarva-karana-karanam

veda-vedyam veda-bijam

    veda-karana-karanam

yoginas tam prapadyante

    bhagavantam sanatanam

 

    bijam - the seed; nana - of various; avataranam - of incarnations; sarva - of everything; karana - of the causes; karanam - the cause; veda - by the Vedic literatures; vedyam - to be known; veda - of the Vedas; bijam - the seed; veda - of knowledge; karanam - of the causes; karanam - the cause; yoginah - the yogis; tam - to Him; prapadyante - surrender; bhagavantam - the Supreme Lord; sanatanam - eternal.

 

 

    Lord Krsna is the seed of the incarnations of Godhead, and He is also the cause of all causes. He is the seed from which the Vedic literatures have sprung and He can be understood by studying those literatures. He is the original source of all knowledge. He is the eternal Supreme Personality of Godhead, and the yogis surrender unto Him.
