     sri-vallabha - very dear to Lakrmi (Consort ofGodhead); iti - thus; varada - endower of denediction; iti - thus;daya-para - causeless merciful; iti - thus; bhakta-priya - very dear to devotees; iti - thus; bhava - repetition of birth anddeath; lunthana - plundering; kovida - expert; iti - thus; natha - the Lord; iti - thus; naga-sayana - One who sleeps onthe bed of serpent; iti - thus; jagat-nivasa - resort of thecosmos; iti - thus; alapanam - constantly recitor;pratidinam - every day; kuru - pleasedo it; me - unto me; mukunda - O Mukunda, my Lord.

 

 

     O Mukunda my Lord!  Please do it unto me so that I canbecome a constantly recitor of addressing You thus as by the name of very  dear to Lakrmi, endower of benediction, causelessly merciful, very dear to the devotees, expert in plundering the status quo of repeated birth and death, the real Lord Who lies down on the bed of serpent and the resort of the cosmos etc.*

jayatu jayatu devo devaki-nandano `yam

     jayatu jayatu karno varni-vams/-pradipah

jayatu jayatu megha-syamalah komalango

     jayatu jayatu pathvi-bhara-naso mukundah

 

     jayatu jayatu - all glories to; deva - the Personality of Godhead; devaki-nandana - Son of Devaki; ayam - this; jayatajayatu - all glories to; Krsnah - Lord Krsna; vrsni - forefather of krsna; vamsa - dynasty; pradipah - limelight;jayatu jayatu - all glories to; megha-syamala - blackish like a new cloud; komala-angah - very soft body; jayatu-jayatu -  allglories to; prthvi - earth; bhara-nasah - remover of obstacles;mukundah - Lord Sri Krsna.

 

 

     All glories to this Supreme Personality of Godhead, known as the son of Srimati Devaki-devi. All glories to Lord Sri Krsna, who has appeared Himself as the limelight in the dynasty of Varni known as Mukunda who is remover of all obstacles on the earth.*

mukunda murdhna pranipatya yace

     bhavantam ekantam iyantam artham

avismatas tvac-caranaravinde

     bhave bhave me `stu bhavat-prasadat

 

     mukunda - O my Lord Mukunda; murdhna - my head; pranipatya - bowing down; yace - respectfully beg; bhavantam - from you; ekantam - ultimately; iyantam - so far and not more; artham - fulfillment of desire; avismatah - without being forgetful; tvat - Your Lordship`s; carana-aravinde - upon the lotus feet;bhave bhave - in every repetition of birth; me-mine; astu - let is be so; bhavat - Your; prasadat - by mercy.

 

 

     Oh My Lord Mukunda! I do bow down my head unto the lotus feet of Your Lordship and respectfully ask from You the fulfillment of desire so far that in every repetition of my birth let it be so by Your Lordship`s mercy that without being forgetful I may always remember You.*

naham vande tava caranayor dvandvam advandva-hetoh

     kumbhipakam gurum api hare narakam napanetum

ramyarama-madu-lanu-latat nandana napi rantum

     bhave bhave hrdaya-bhavane bhavayeyam bhavantam

 

     na - not; aham - I; vande - so pray; tava - Your; caranayoh -  Lotus feet; dvandvam - pair; advandva - non-dluality; hetoh - for the reason of;kumbhipakam - boiling hell; gurum api  - ofthe severest ¨type; Hare - Oh Hari; narakam - hell; na - never;apanetum - to get rid of; ramya - velry beautiful; rama - the fair sex; mrdu-tanu-lata - soft-bodied dependent;nandane - in the pleasure garden; na - not; api - even;rantum - for enjoying; bhave bhave - in all different births;hadaya - heart; bhavane - in the house; bhavayeyam - maydevelop; bhavantam - You only.

 

 

     O my Lord Hari! I don`t pray unto You and at Your lotuspair of feet in order to be saved from the duality of existance,neither with a purpose of getting rid from the grim hell ofboiling tribulations. Nor do I do so with a purpose ofenjoying soft-bodied beautiful women who reside in the gardenof heaven. But I do so with the purpose of developing Youonly in the core of my heart even birth after birth.*

nastha dharma n a vasu-nicaye naiva kamopabhoge

     yad bhavyam tad bhavatu bhagavan purva-karmanurupam

etat prarthyam janma-janmantare `api

     tvat-padambhoruha-yuga-gata niscala bhaktir astu

 

     na astha - not even special attachment; dharme - in the matter of religiosity; na - neither; vasu-nicaye - in the matter ofaccumulating wealth; na - neither; eva - even; kama-upabhoge - inthe matter of sense-enjoyment; yat - whatever; bhavyam - in the matter of; bhavatu - let it be happened; bhagavan - Oh my Lord;purva - previous; karma - deeds; anurupam - in accordance with;etat - this much; prarthyam - behooves to ask; mama - on my part;bahu-matam - the most desirable; janma - birth; janma-antare - after birth; api - even; tvat - Your; pada - ambhoruha - lotus feet;yuga - pair; gata - rested in; niscala - unflinching; bhaktih - devotional service; astu - may there be.

 

 

     O my Lord! I have no special attachment for religiosity,neither in the matter of accululating wealth and for fame, norI have any inclination for enjoying sense-gratification. Letthere be what it may come upon as they are inevitable inaccordance with the result of my past deeds. But this muchis my most desirable prayer unto You that let there be an unflinching devotional service attitude unto the pairs of Yourlotus feet even after repetitions of births after births.*

divi va bhuvi va mamastu vaso

     narake va narakantaka prakamam

avadhirita-`saradaravindau

     caranau te marane `pi cintayami

 

     divi - in the plane of the demigods; va - either; bhuvi - in the lane of the human beings; va - or; ¨mama - my; astu-become;vasah - residence; narake O - in the plane of hell; va - or; naraka-antaka - Oh the Destroyer of Narakasura; pstakamam - asa matter of course; avadhirita - defied by sarada -  of theseason called sarat; aravindau - lotus flower; caranau - pairs of feet; te - of Yourself; marane - the time of death; api - even; cintayami - may I remember.

 

 

     Oh my Lord the killer of Narakasura! Let there be my residence either in the plane of the demigods or in the planeof the human being or in that of the hell as a matter ofcourse. I pray for that I may remember even at the point ofmy death the pairs of Your lotus feet which have defied thelotus grown in the season of sarat.*

cintayami harim eva santatam

     manda-hasa-muditananaubujam

nanda-gopa-tanayam parat param

     naradadi-muni-vanda-vanditam

 

     cintayami - I meditate; harim - on Lord Hari; eva - indeed;santatam - continually; masda - gentle; hasa - smile; mudita - cheerful; anana - face; ambujam - lotus; nanda-gopa - Nanda Maharaja; tanayam - the son; parat - than the greatest; param - the greater; narada - by Narada; adi - and others; muni - ofsages; vanda - by the multitude; vanditam - offered obeisances.

 

 

     I continually meditate upon Lord Hari, whose cheerful lotusface is decorated with a gentle smile. Although He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead greater than the greatest and worshiped by Narada and the community of sages, He is also the little son of the cowherd Nanda.

 

 

Text 8

 

 

kara-carana-saroje kantiman-netra-mine

     srama-muri bhuja-vici-vyakule `gadha-marge

hari-sarasi vigahyapiya tejo-jalaugham

     bhava-maru-parikhinnah klesam adya tyajami

 

     kara - hands; carana - feet; saroje - with lotus flowers; kantimat - beautiful; netra - eyes; mine - with two fish; srama - fatigue; muri - removing; bhuja - arms; vici - by the waves;vyakule - agitated; agadha - unfathomable; marge - path; hari - of Lord Hari; sarasi - in the lake; vigahya - having plunged;apiya - having drunk; tejah - the splendid beauty; jala-augham - the water; bhava - of material existence; maru - by the desert;parikhinnah - distressed and exhausted; klesam - distreee;adya - today; tyajami - I shall abandon.

 

     The lake which is Lord Hari is decorated with lotus flowerswhich are the Lord`s hands and feet, and within it are twosplendid fishes that are His eyes, and rippling waves that arethe movement of the Lord`s arms, no one is able to measure thedepth of that lake. That lake removes the fatigue of those whotake shelter within it. I, who am exhausted and depressed by staying in the desert of material existence shall now dive intothat lake and drink it`s waters, the splendid beauty of the Lord.In this way I shall become free of all distress.

sarasija-nayane sasankha-cakre

     mura-bhidi ma viramasva citta rantum

sukhataram aparam na jatu jane

     hari-carana-smaranamatena tulyam

 

     sarasi-ja - lotus; nayane - eyes; sa - with; sankha - conch shell; cakra - and cakra; mura - of the Murademon; bhidi - the killer; ma-don`t; viramasva - cease; citta - O mind; rantum - to take delight; sukhataram - supremely delightful; apram -  unparalleled; na - not; jatu - ever; jane - do I know; hari - ofLord Hari; carana - of the feet; smarana - of the rememberance;amatena - with the nectar; tulyam - equal.

 

 

     O mind, please do not stop delighting in Lord Krsna, whose eyes are as beautiful as the lotus flower, who killed theMura demon, and who holds the conch and club. I do not think there is anything as delightful as the nectar of the rememberanceof the lotus feet of Lord Hari.

mabhir manda-mano vicintya bahudha yamis ciram yatana

     naivami prabhavanti papa-ripavah svami nanu sidharah

alasyam vyapaniya bhakti-sulabham dhyayasna narayanam

     lokasya vyasanapanodana-karo dasasya kim na kramah

 

     ma - don`t; abhih - fear; manda - dull; manah - O mind;vicintya - considering; baudha - in many ways; yamih - fromYamaraja; ciram - for a long time; yatanah - torments; na - not; eva - certainly; ami - these; prabhavanti - becomemanifest; papa - of sins; ripavah - enemies; svami - Svami;nanu - indeed; sridharah - Sridhara; alasyam - laziness; vyapaniya - drive away; bhakti - by devotional service; sulabham - easy to attain; dhyayasva - please medidate; narayanam - upon LordNarayana; lokasya - of the living entities; vyasana - distresses;apanodana-karah - removing; dasasya - of the servant; kim -  whether?; na - not; ksamah - able.

 

 

     O slow mind, don't fearfully meditate on Yama's tortures. ¨Sinful reactions, which arethe living entities' enemies, don't prevail over thedevotees. O mind, give up your laziness and meditateon the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Narayana,the goddess of fortune`s husband, who is easy to attain bydevotional service. Can the Lord not removethe distressing sins of His servants?

 

 

Text 11

 

 

bhava-jaladhi-gatanaam dvandva-vatahatannm

     suta-duhita-kalatra-tarana-bhararditanam

virama-viraye-toye majjatam aplavanam

     bhavati saranam eko virnu-poto naranam

 

     bhava - of material existance; jaladhi - in the ocean; gatanam - of those who have gone; dvandva - of the dualities of materiallife; vata - by the winds; ahatanam - beaten; suta - of sins; duhitr - daughters; kalatra - of wife; trana - protection; bhara -  and maintenance; arditanam - afflicted; visama - poison; visaya - of sense gratification; toye - in the water; majjatam - immersed;aplavanam - drowned; bhavati - there is; saranam - shelter;; ekah - one; visnu - of Lord Visnu; potah - the ship; naranam - of thepeople.

 

 

     Having entered the ocean of material existance, the living entities are battered by the winds of material dualities (such as happiness and distress, heat and cold, etc.) Splashed by thevarious distressing of maintaining and protecting sons, daughters, wife and other relatives, and drowned in the poisonsous waters of sense-gratification. Their only shelter isthe ship which is Lord Virnu.

 

 

Text 12

 

 

bhava-jaladhim agadham nistareyam

     katham aham iti ceto masma gah kataratvam

sarasija-drsi deve taraki bhaktir eka

     naraka-bhidi nisanna tarayisyaty avas/yam

    

     bhave - of material existance; jaladhim - the ocean; agadham - unfathomable; dustaram - difficult to cross; nistareyam - I may cross; katham - how is it possible?; aham - I; iti - thus; cetah - Omind; ma asma - don`t; gah - go; kataratvam - to discouragement;sarasija - lotus; dasi - eyes; deve - Supreme Personality ofGodhead; taraki - the deliverer; bhaktih - devotional service; eka - one; naraka-bhidi - delivering from hell; nisanna - resting upon; tarayiyati - rescues; avasyam - certainly.

 

 

     O mind, do not become discouraged, thinking: "How shall Ibe able to cross this impassible, and immeasurable ocean ofmaterial existance?" By engaging in devotional service to thelotus-eyed Supreme Personality of Godhead, who rescues Hisdevotees even from ¨hell, I shall be able very easily to crossit.

tarna-toye madana-pavanoddhuta-mohormi-male

     daravarte tanaya-sahaja-graha-sanghakule ca

samsarakhye mahati jaladhau majjatam nas tridhaman

     pasambhoje varada bhavato bhakti-bhavam prayaccha

 

     tarna - of the thirst for material happiness; toye - inthe water; madana - of sex desire; pavana - by the winds; uddhuta - agitated; moha - of illusion; urmi - of waves; male - with a garland; dara - wife; avarte - whirlpool; tanaya - sons; sahaja - brothers; graha - crocodiles; sangha - by the community; akule - full; ca - and; samsara - material existence; akhye - known as;mahati - great; jaladhau - ocean; majjatam - of those who areimmersed; nah - of us; tri-dhaman - O Krsna, who performspastimes in Vandavana, Mathura and Dvaraka; pada - feet;ambhoje - lotus; varada - O giver of benedictions; bhavatah - of you; bhati-bhavam - devotional service; prayaccha - please give.

 

 

     The great ocean of material existance is filled with the waters of the thirst for material happiness, and it is crowdedwith waves of illusion moving with the winds of sex-desire.That ocean is full of the crocodiles that are sons, brothersand other relatives, and it possesses a terrible whirlpool that is the wife. O Lord Whose glories are proclaimed in the three worlds, and who performs pastimes in Vandavana, Mathura andD/varaka, O Giver of benedictions, please give the puredevotional service of Your lotus feet to those of us who are presently drowning in that material ocean.

pathvi-renur anuh payamsi kanikah phalguh sphulingolaghus

     tejo hihsvasanam marut-tanutaram randhram susukrmamnabhah

krudra rudra-pitamaha-prabhatayah kitah samastah sura

     darte yatra sa tarako vijayate sri-pada-dhuli-kanah

 

     prthvi - from the earth; renuh - particle of dust; anuh - atom; payamsi - nectar; kanikah - drops; phalguh - useless;sphulingah - spark; laghuh - insignificant; tejah - fire;nihsvasanam - without breathing; marut - wind; tanutaram - verysmall; randhram - opening; su - very; sukrman - fine; nabhah - sky;krudrah - very tiny; rudra - Lord Siva; pitamaha - Lord Brahma;prabhatayah - and the others; kitah - insects; samastah - all;surah - the demigods; darta - seen; yatra - where; sa - He;tarakah - which delivers the devotees; vijayate - all glories;sri ada - of the lotus feet of Lord Krsna; dhuli - of dust; kanah - a particle.

 

     All glories to the polles of Lord Krsna`s lotus feet,compared to which the sprinkling of nectar appears like dust,a great fire appears like an insignificant spark, a hurricaneappears like a motionless breeze, the sky appears like a very tiny opening, and all the demigods, headed by Siva and Brahmaappear like unimportant insects.

he lokah srnuta prasuti-marana-v/yadhes cikitsam imam

     yogajnah samudaharanti munayo yam yajnavalkyadayah

antar-jyotir ameyam ekam amatam Krsna/khyam apiyatam

     tat pitan paramauradham vitanute nirvanam atyantikam

  

     he - O; lokah - people; sanuta - please listen; prasuti - of birth; marana - death; vyadheh - of the disease; cikitsam - the remedy; imam - this; yoga - of yoga; jnah - O knowers;samudaharanti - pronounce; munayah - the sages; yam - which;yajnavalkya - Yajnavalkya; adayah - and others; antah - jyotih - splendid; ameyam - unlimited; elam - one; amatam - nectar; Krsna - Krsna; akhyam - name; apiyatam - shouldbe drunk; tat - that; pitam - drunk; parama - supreme; ausadham - medicine; vitanute - grants; nirvanam - liberation; atyantikam - eternal.

 

 

     O people, please hear! Here is the medicine to cure thedisease of repeated birth and death. This medicine is prescribed by Yajnavalkya and other great yogis. Please drink this splendid.nectarean medicine: The Holy Name of Krsna, which grants release from the bonds of material existance.

     samsaranavam apad-urmi-bahulam samyak pravis/yasthitah

nana-jnanam apasya cetasi namo narayanayety amum

     mantram sa-pranavam pranama-mahitam pravartayadhvam muhuh

 

     he-O; martyah - people; paramam - supreme; hitam - welfare;sanute - please listed; vah - of you; vakryami - I shalldescribe; sankrepatah - in a summary; samsara - of birth and death in the material world; arnavam - the ocean; apat - ofcalamities; urmi - full of waves; bahulam - abundant; samyak - completely; pravisya - having entered; sthitah - staying; nana - various kinds; jnanam - of knowledge; apasya - having abandoned; cetasi - in the heart; namah - I offer respectful obeisances;narayanaya - to Lord Narayana; iti - thus; amum - this; mantram - mantra; sa - with; pranavam - the syllable om; pranama - obeisances;mahitam - celebrated; pravartayadhvam - please perform; muhuh - at every moment.

 

     O people presently immersed in the ocean of material existance, full of the great tidal waves of terrible calamitiesPlease listen! I shall now briefly describe the greatest benefitfor you. Throw away all kinds of false speculative knowledgawithin your heart and continually chant the glorious mantra omnamo narayanaya.

nathe nah pururottame tri-jagatam ekadhipe cetasa

     sevye svarya padasya datari pare narayane tirthati

yam kancit pururadhamam katipaya-gramesam alparthadam

     sevayai magayamahe naram aho mudha varaka vayam

 

     nathe - when the lord; nah - of us; purura - person;uttame - Supreme; tri - three; jagatam - of the worlds; eka - only;adhipe - controller; cetasa - by the mind; sevye - worshippable andworthy of being served; svasya - of His own; padasya - of thetranscendental position; datari - the giver; pare - supreme;narayane - Lord Narayane; tirthati - is present; yam - whom;kancit - to someone; purura - person; adhamam - lowest; katipaya - of some; grama - of villages; isam - the chief; alpa-arthadam - poor and useless; sevayai - for service; magayamahe - we seekout; naram - human being; aho - O; mudhah - foolish and bewildered;varakah - pitiable; vayam - we.

 

 

     Alas, we are very foolish and pitiful, for even though the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Narayana, the greatestof persons, the exclusive monarch of the three worlds, and ourworshippable master, who grants to His servants a transcendentalposition equal to His own, is standing within our hearts, weseek out an ordinary, poor, useless and lowly human being who happens to be the master of a few villages, and become very eager to engage in his service.

baddhenanjalina natena sirasa gatraih saromodgamaih

     kanthena svara-gadgadena nayanenodgirna -barpambuna

nityam tvac-carananaravinda-yagala-dhyanamatasvadinam

     asmakam sarasiruhakra satatam sampadyatam kivitam

 

     baddhena anjalina - with folded hands; natena - with bowed;sirasa - head; gatraih - with limbs; sa - with; roma - with hairs; udgamaih - standing up; kanthena - with voice; svara - sounds; gaggadena - choked up; nayanena - with eyes; udgirna - emitted; baspa - of tears; ambuna - with the water; nityam - constantly; tvat - Your; carana - feet; aravinda - lotus; yugalam - pair; dhyana - of meditation; amata - of the nectar; asvadinam - of those who are relishing; asmakam - of us; ¨sarasiruha - lotus;akra - eyed; satatam - continually; sampadyatam - may become filled; jivitam - life.

 

 

     O lotus eyed Lord Krsna, for our entire life may we constantly relish the nectar of meditation upon Your two lotus feet. May we always offer obeisances to You with respectfullyfolded hands, bowed head, the hairs of our bodies standing up in ecstasy, our voices choked with emotion and our eyes full oftears.

yat-Krsna-pranipata-dhuli-dhavalam tad-varrma tad-vaisiras

     te netre tamasojjhite surucire yabhyam harir dasyate

sa buddhir vimalendu-sankha-dhavala ya madhava-dhyayini

     sa jihvamata-varrini pratipadam ya stauti narayanam

 

     yat - which; Krsna - to Lord Krsna; pranipata - fallen down to offer respect; dhuli - in the dust; dhavalam - white; tat - that; varrma - body; tat - therefore; vaisirah - is the best; te - those two; netre - eyes; tamasa - from ignorance and darkness; ujjhite - freed; surucire - beautiful; yabhyam - by which; harih - Lord Hari; dasyate - is seen; sa - that;buddhih - intelligence; vimala - pure; indu - moon; san/kha - conch-shell; dhavala - white; ya - which; madhava - upon Lord Madhava; dhyayini - meditates; sa - that; jihva - tongue;amata - of nectar; varrini - with rains; pratipadam - at every moment; ya - who; stauti - offers prayers; narayanam - to Lord Narayana.

 

 

     That body which falls to the groung down to bow before LordKrsna is the best of bodies, those eyes which see the formof Lord Hari, become simultaneously very beautiful and free fromthe darkness of ignorance. That intelligence which meditates uponLord Madhava becomes white and pure, just like the conch-shell,or the spotless moon. That tongue which repeatedly offersprayers glorifying Lord Narayana, emenates showers of nectar.

jihve kirtaya kesavam muraripum ceto bhaja sridharam

     pani-dvandva samarcayacyuta-kathah srotra-dvaya tvam sanu

Krsnam lokaya locana-dvaya harer gacchanghri-yugmalayam

     jighra ghrana mukunda-pada-tulasim murdhan namadhokrajam

 

      jihve - O tongue; kirtaya - please glorify; kesavam - Lord Kesava, who has beautiful hair; mura-ripum - Lord Krsna,the enemy of the Mura demon; cetah - O mind; bhaja - please worship and serve; sridharam - Lord Krsna, the master of thegoddess of fortune; pani - of hands; dvandva - O pair; samarcaya - please decorate; acyuta - of the infailliable Lord;kathah - the topics; srotra - of ears; dvaya - O pair; twam - you; sanu - please ¨hear; Krsnam - all-attractive Lord Krsna;lokaya - please see; locana - of eyes; dvaya - O pair; hareh - of Lord Hari who removes the distresses of the devotees; gaccha - please go; anghri - of feet; yugma - O pair; alamyam - to thetemple; joghra - please smell; ghrana - O nose; mukunda - ofLord Mukunda who grants liberation to the devotes; pada - atthe feet; tulasim - the tulasi leaves; murdhan - O head;nama - please bow; adhokrajam - to the lord who is not percievable by the material senses.

 

 

     O tongue, please glorify Lord Kesava, O mind, pleaseworship and serve Lord Muraripu. O hands, please decorate LordSridhara. O ears, please heart the topics of Lord Acyuta. O eyes, please see the form of Lord Krsna. O feet, please go to Lord Hari`s temple. O nose, please smell the tulasi leaves offered to Lord Mukunda`s feet. O head, please bow down before Lord Adhokraja.Note: Kesava, Muraripu etc are all names of Lord Krsna.The meaning of each name is found in the synonyms.

amnayabhyasanany aran/ya-ruditam veda-vratany anvaham

     medas-cheda-phalani purta-vidhayah sarvam hutam bhasmani

tirthanam avagahanani ca gaja-snanam vina yat-pada-

     dvandvanbhoruha-samsmatim vijayate devah sa narayanah

     All glories to the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Narayana. Without rememberance of His lotus feet, Vedicstudies become like crying in the wilderness, daily performanceof Vedic vows and rituals, fasting, giving in charity and otherpious works all become useless like a sacrifice offered upon the ashes (instead of the fire), and taking bath in the different holy places of pilgrimage becomes as worthless as the bathing of an elephant (who, after leaving the water, immediately covershis body with dust).

     madana - O cupid; parihara - please leave; sthitim - thesituation; madiye - my; manasi - within the mind; mukunda - of Lord Mukunda; pada - feet; aravinda - lotus; dhamni - theabode; hara - of Lord siva; nayana - of the eyes; kasanuna - by the archer; karah - greatly diminished; asi - you are; smarasi - you remember; na - not; cakra - of the cakra; parakramam--prowess; mura-areh - of Lord Krsna, the enemy of the Mura demon.

 

 

     O cupid, please leave my mind, which is now the abode of the lotus feet of Lord Mukunda. Although you have already been greatly weakened by the expert archer which is the eye ofLord Siva, you neglect to consider the strength of the cakraof my protector, Lord Krsna, the Enemy of the Mura demon.Note: When cupid tried to shoot his arrows at Lord Siva, theLord burned cupid to ashes with His glance.

This is the medicine to attainthe greatest welfare. O mind, please drink this transcendental Krsna-medicine.

     That person who hears the account of the transcendental words and qualities of Lord Janardana, and remains unmoved,his eyes not garlanded with tears and the hair of his body notstanding up in ecstasy, is the lowest of men. What a shamefullife he leads.

     O Lord Krsna, the strong thieves which are my senseshave plundered my great wealth of discrimination and thrown meinto the blind well of illusion. I am very wretched and I cannotsee anything. O Lord, please extend Your hand to save me.

     idam - this; sariram - body; parinama - change; pesalam - beauty; patati - falls; avasyam - inevitably; sata - a hundred;sandhi - with contact; jarjaram - decrepit with age; kim - what?;ausadham - the medicine; paacchasi - you ask; mudha - bewildered;durmate - O fool; niramayam - freedom from illness; Krsna - lord Krsna; rasayanam - the elixer of immortality; piba - please drink.

 

 

     This body is now decrepit with age, and it`s youthfulbeauty is gone. O bewildered fool, you ask: "What is the remedy?"I answer: "Please drink this Krsna-elixer, which frees one from old-age, illness and death."

     sudham parityajya viram pibanti

     ascaryam - amazing; etat - this; hi - indeed; manusya - of men; loke - on this planet; sudham - nectar; parityajya - abandoning; visam - poison; pibanti - they drink; namani - theHoly Names; narayana-gocarani - of Lord Narayana;tyaktani - abandoned; avacah - without speaking; kuhahah - rascals; pathanti - they read.

 

 

     How amazing it is that in this world of men some will reject nectar and prefer to swallow poison. This is observed whenfoolish scholars reject the chanting of the Holy Names of Lord Na


ayana, and prefer to silently read.

     O people, raising my arms in the air, I shall speak the truth to you. Whoever chants "O Mukunda, O Narasimha, O Janardana", every day, or at the time of death, or on the battlefield, considers all material desires as useless as a pebble or a piece of wood.
