     gauravena - with respect; cira - for a long time;  mayika - of Maya; asuri - by the demonness;  dharitah - held; naraka - to hell; yana - going;  kelikah - playfulness; tat-krpa - by his mercy; parama- palitah - saved; param - then; anatah - bowing down;  asmi - I am; prabhupada-padakam - to Srila Prabhupada.

 

 

     I who for many years tightly held the witch of illusion to  my heart offer my respectful obeisances to my spiritual master  His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada who rescued  me from the darë hell to which she was playfully taking me.

     kim - how?; smarami - I remember; prabhupada-karita-  - done by Srila Prabhupada; palanam - protection;  krta - done; dhanam - wealth; smarami - I remember;  kim - how?; tat-smrtah - remembering him;  manana - thoughts; bhajitah - broken;  asmy - am; aham - I; tat-smrtah - remembering him;  nayana-varibhih - with tears from my eyes; vrtah - filled.

 

 

     Hou can I thinë of what Srila Prabhupada saved me from¿ Hou  can I measure the gift he gave to me¿ My thoughts breaë apart  when I try to thinë of these things When I thinë of these things  I weep.

     gaurah - Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu; adi-purusah - the  original Supreme Personality of Godhead; kaleh - of Kali;   yuge - in the age; krsna-nama - the holy name of Lord  Krsna; satatam - again and again;  prakirtayan - chanting; krsna-bhakti-paramatnaratmakah - devoted  at heart to Lord Sri Krsna; nityasah - again and again;   jayati - all glories; sanukampakah - merciful.

 

 

     All glories to Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu the merciful  Supreme Personality of Godhead who in the Kali-yuga appeared as  a devotee and again and again chanted the holy name of Lord  Krsna.

nica-loka-paramoddharasrayam gaura-kanti-vapusam- su-sundaram

anamami satatam- saci…-sutam

 visva-vrnda - in the material worlds; hari-nama - the holy  name of Lord Krsna; puranam - flooding; nica-loka - the  fallen people; paramoddhara - deliverance; asrayam - and  shelter; gaura-kanti-vapusam - His form is fair; su- sundaram - handsome; anamami - I bou down; satatam - again  and again; saci…-sutam - to the son of Saci-devi 

 

 

     Again and again I bou down before Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu  Saci-devi's son whose handsome form is fair and splendid  Flooding the material world with the chanting of Lord Krsna's  holy names He delivers the fallen souls and gives them shelter  at His feet.

koti-koti-kamalesvaranghraye koti-koti-kavi-sangha-dhimate

koti-koti-gunine sate namah

 

     koti-koti - millions and millions; ratikanta - of  Kamadevas; kantaye - hansomeness; koti-koti - millions  and millions; kamala-isvara - of regal lotus flowers;  anghraye - feet; koti-koti - millions and millions; kavi- sangha - of poets; dhimate - wise; koti-koti - millions and  millions; gunine - of virtues; sate - to the Supreme  Personality of Godhead; namah - obeisances.

 

 

     I offer my respectful obeisances to Sri Krsna who is more  handsome than millions of Kamadevas wiser than millions of  philosophers and perfect with millions of virtues and whose  feet are more glorious than millions of lotus flowers.

gopa-bala-paripalako harih bhakta-vatsala-paro 'nukampako

mad-dhrd-antar-anasuya-sarpakam

 

     nasayet - may destroy; tam - that; aghadaitya- marakah - the killer of Aghasura; gopa-bala-paripalakah - the  protector of the gopa boys; harih - Krsna; bhakta- vatsala-parah - who loves the devotees; anukampakah - kind;   mad-dhrd-antar-anasuya - of envy in my heart; sarpakam - the  snake.

 

 

     May merciful Lord Krsna the cowherd boys§ protector who  entered Aghasura and killed him kill the snake of envy that  lives coiled-up in my heart.

svapna-nasa-karakah„ krpasrayah„  janma-mrtyu-vipad-avali…-kara-

svapnam adya mama nasayed dharih

 

     kandara - a cave; apta - attained; mucukunda- devaka - of Mucukunda; svapna - dream; nasa- karakah - breaking; krpasrayah - the abode of kindness;   janma-mrtyu-vipad-avali…-kara - of the calamity of repeated birth and  death; svapnam - the dream; adya - now;  mama - my; nasayet - may destroy; harih - Krsna.

 

 

     May merciful and glorious Lord Krsna who awakened Mukucunda  from his long sleep in a cave waken me from the nightmare of  repeated birth and death.

karita parama-sundari… vara madhavena mama kubjaka matih„

 karitastu para-sundari… vara

 

     yena - by whom; kamsa-puri - in the city of Kamsa;  kubja - crooked; kubjaka - Kubja; karita - made;  parama-sundari - very beautiful; vara - straight;  madhavena - by Krsna; mama - my; kubjaka - crooked;  matih - thoughts; karita astu - may be made; para- sundari - very beautiful; vara - straight.

 

 

     May Lord Krsna who made the crooked Kubja into a beautiful  straight girl make my crooked thoughts beautiful and straight.

cacala-sahita eva kalakah nanda-nandana-ghano 'nukampana-

varsanam- mayi karotu dinake

 

     sundari - beautiful; suvrsabhanu-nandini - the daughter of  King Vrsabhanu; cacala-sahita - with the lightning  flash; eva - indeed; kalakah - dark; nanda- nandana - of the son of Nanda; ghanah - the cloud;  anukampana - of mercy; varsanam - the shower; mayi - on  me; karotu - may do; dinake - poor.

 

 

     May the splendid darë cloud of Lord Krsna and the glittering  lightning flash of Sri Radha‘ shower me the poorest of the poor  with their rain of mercy.

nanda-rajam abhiraksati sma yo ghora-kama-gilitam tö anathakam

mam prapannam abhiraksatam- harih

 

     sarpakena - by a snake; gilitam - swallowed;  vrajesvaram - the kinf o Vraja; nanda-rajam - King Nanda;  abhiraksati sma - protected; yah - who; ghora-kama- gilitam - swallowed by horrible material desires;  tv - indeed; anathakam - without a master; mam - me;  prapannam - surrendered; abhiraksatam - may protect;  harih - Lord Krsna.

 

 

     May Lord Krsna who saved Nanda Maharaja from the snake that  was devouring him save me from the horrible material desires  that are devouring me I have no other shelter Nou I take  shelter of Him.

barha-hara-vana-malya-bhusitah

pita-vastra-dharano vilasitah bhakta-jivana-padambujo harir

mahyam arpayatu tat-samipatam

 

     barha - peacocë feather; hara - necklace; vana- malya - forest garland; bhusitah - decorated; pita- vastra-dharanah - wearing yellou garments; vilasitah - playful  and handsome; bhakta - of the devotees; jivana - the  life; pada - feet; ambujah - lotus;  harih - Krsna; mahyam - to me; arpayatu - may give;  tat-samipatam - nearness to Him.

 

 

     May Lord Krsna who wears a peacocë-feather crown a  necklace of jewels a garland of forest flowers and a yellou  dhoti who is playful and handsome and whose lotus feet are the  life of the devotees allou me to stay with Him always.

yasya venu-ninadena gopika-

gopa-go-gana-vara jada krtah dravita giri-lata-sila harir

mitratam mayi kim arpayisyati

 

     yasya - of whom; venu - of the flute; ninadena - with  the sound; gopika - the gopis; gopa - gopas; go- gana-vara - and cows; jada - stunned; krtah - made;  dravita - melted; giri - the mountains; lata - vines;  sila - and rocks; harih - Krsna; mitratam - the state of  being a companion; mayi - to me; kim - whether?;  arpayisyati - will give;

 

 

     Will Lord Krsna who plays the flute His music making the  gopas gopis and cows become stunned and the hills trees and  rocks melt in ecstasy allou me to become His companion?

arpayisyati kada vilasito

madhavo nayana-harsa-puranah sundaro lalitakah„ sva-padaka-

padma-mardanaka-sevitam- mayi

 

     arpayisyati - will give; kada - when?;  vilasitah - splendid; madhavah - Krsna; nayana - the  eyes; harsa - happiness; puranah - flooding;  sundarah - handsome; lalitakah - charming; sva-padaka- - of  His feet; padma - of the lotus;  mardanaka - massaging; sevitam - the status of being a  servant; mayi - to me.

 

 

     When will handsome and charming Lord Krsna the sight of  whom fills the eyes with bliss allou me to massage His lotus  feet?

 tvat-samarpitam ihaiva mam- prabho  uddharoddhara samarpayarpaya

tvat-padambuja-yuge vilasite

 

     krsna - O Krsna; krsna - O Krsna; para-vidya - O  supremely wise one; samsrtau - in the material world;  tvat-samarpitam - placed by You; iha - here;  eva - inded; mam - to me; prabho  - O Lord;  uddhara - please lift up; uddhara - please lift up;  samarpaya - please place; arpaya - please place;  tvat - Your; pada - feet; ambuja - lotus;  yuge - two; vilasite - splendid.

 

 

     O Lord Krsna by Your infinite wisdom you have sent me to  this material world where I have stayed for a very long time  Please call me back Please take this servant bacë to Your lotus  feet.

yamunambujaka-vayu-gandhine radhika-vilasitaya gokula-

jivanaya haraye namo namah

 

     gopika - of the gopis; nayana - eyes;  padma - lotuses; bhusine - decorated; yamuna - of the  Yamuna; ambujaka - lotuses; vayu - breeze;  gandhine - fragrant; radhika - with Radha;  vilasitaya - enjoying splendid pastimes; gokula - of Gokula;   jivanaya - the life; haraye - to Krsna;  namah - obeisances; namah - obeisances.

 

 

     I offer my respectful obeisances to Lord Krsna who is  decorated with the lotus flowers of the gopis§ glances and  scented with the gentle lotus breeze from the Yamuna who is the  life of Gokula and who enjoys splendid pastimes with Sri Radha.

     mam - to me; punar-bhava-su-saukhya-lalasam - yearning to  enjoy the happiness found in the world of repeated birth and  death; helitam - insulted; tv - indeed;  asukhinam - unhappy; hata - kicked; ananam - in the  face; tvam - You; punar-bhava-vimukti-lalasam - yearning  to become free from the world of repeated birth and death;  arpaya - please place; anghri - feet; yugale - on the  two; tava - of You; prabhah - O Lord.

 

 

     O Krsna I tried again and again to enjoy Your material  energy but she would never let me enjoy her She only laughed  and kicked my face O Krsna I will nou leave her Nou I have no  place to go Please give me a home at Your lotus feet.

     vasah - home; eva - indeed; bhava-yatana-grhah - the  torture chamber of repeated birth and death; mamakah - of  me; tv - indeed; iti - thus; na - not; vagmy - I  say; avasanah - homeless; dehi - please give;  dehi - please give; karunamaya - O merciful one; prabhah - O  Lord; vasam - home; adya - now; pada - feet; - pankaje - lotus; tava - of You.

 

 

     O merciful Krsna nou I am homeless I no longer call the  torture chamber of repeated birth and death my home Please take  me in Please give me a home at Your lotus feet.

daitya-raja-karuno vrajesvarah kama-koti-ku-visaugha-purita-

manase krpayatam- mayi priyah

 

     kaliya - Kaliya; ahi - snake; khala - demon;  putana - Putana; adika - beginning with; daitya-raja - to  the kings of the demons; karunah - merciful;  vrajesvarah - the king of Vraja; kama - material desires;  koti - millions; ku-visa - of poison; augha- purita - flooded; manase - heart; krpayatam - may be  merciful; mayi - to me; priyah - dear.

 

 

     May Lord Krsna who was kind even to Putana Kaliya and  many other great demons be also kind to me a person flooded  with the poisons of many millions of material desires.

     muja-kananaka - in Munjavana forest; dava- pavaka - forest fire; gopa-bala - the gopa boys;  paripalanah - saving; prabhuh - the Lord;  ghora - horrible; kama - desires; gana - multitude;  dava-pavakat - from the forest fire; krsna - Krsna;  isvara-parah - the Supreme Personality of Godhead; prapatu - may  save; mam - me.

 

 

     May Lord Krsnadeva who protected the gopas from a fire in  Mujavana forest save me from the burning desires that  hem me in on every side.

 netra-vari-dhanavantam anatam

 

     mam - to me; marau - in the desert;  adhanavantam - poor; antare - within; bhavaya - please  make; prabhu-vara - O best of Lords; vrajesvara - O king  of Vraja; krsna-nama-rava - the sound of the name Krsna;   karna - in the ear; karita - caused; netra-vari - tears  in the eyes; dhanavantam - wealthy; anatam - bowing down.

 

 

     O Krsna in the direst poverty I live in the desert Please  give me some wealth Give me enough wealth so tears can come to  my eyes when I hear the name Krsna.

     When will dancing Lord Krsna who left His footprints on  Kaliya's moving hoods leave footprints on my restless thoughts?

     I will become an artist and I will make beautiful and  colorful pictures of Krsna's handsomeness and Krsna's pastimes  pictures that will make they who see them fall in love with  Krsna.

     When they describe Krsna poets are all liers Hou can they  say Krsna's face is like the moon and His eyes are like lotus  petals¿ Where do they get these lies¿ Many millions of moons do  not equal Krsna's face and many millions of lotus petals do not  equal His eyes.

     The moon the lotus and other beautiful things are not  worthy to be compared to Krsna's face A forest of kalpavrksa  trees is not as generous as He is The sweetest nectar cannot  compare to His words There is nothing that can be compare to His  playful glance

     kah - what?; puman - person; hari - like Lord  Krsna; sama - equal; anukampitah - merciful;  kah - what?; puman - person; putanika - to Putana;  anukampitah - merciful; kah - ehat?; puman - person;  pranaya - with love; datta - offered; puspaka - a  flower;  mulyaka - price; atma - self; vara- vikrayah - sells; parah - great.

 

 

     Who is as kind as Krsna is¿ Who would have pardoned Putana‘  and a host of other demons¿ Who would sell himself for a little  flower offered with love?

     You protected Prahlada again and again Please protect me  also I live in world where there is danger from every direction.

     O merciful Krsna I have for a very long time tried to swim  in this ocean of birth and death I thought I would play amongst  its waves and be happy I did not become happy I only became  unhappy Nou I am exhausted I can no longer swim I am drowning  Please picë me up Please picë me up.

lasitam- janani…-lalanam- subham sundaram- yuvati-citta-corakam

kesavam- manasi mamake 'rpayat

 

     krsna - Krsna; ity - thus; amita-sakti - limitless  power; nama - name; hi - indeed;  lasitam - manifested; janani…-lalanam - hugged by His mother;   subham - glorious; sundaram - handsome; yuvati-citta- corakam - stealing the hearts of young girls;  kesavam - Krsna; manasi - in the heart; mamake - my;  arpayat - may place.

 

 

     Sometimes a single word unleashes a flood of memories May  the sound Krs„-na fill me with thoughts of He who was sometimes a  little boy hugged by mother Yasoda‘ and sometimes a handsome  teenager who robbed the vraja-gopis of their hearts.

varnitam- su-sukham eva lokaye

napi loka iha tad bubhuksubhih kintö aham- su-sukham eva lokaye

kevalam- sukha-janair avarnitam

 

     varnitam - descriobed; su-sukham - great happiness;  eva - indeed; lokaye - I see; na - not;  api - indeed; loke iha - in this world; tat - that;  bubhuksubhih - by they who desire to enjoy; kintv - indeed;   aham - I; su-sukham - great happiness; eva - indeed;   lokaye - see; kevalam - only; sukha-janaih - by the  people yearning for enjoyment; avarnitam - not described.

 

 

     I did not find happiness They said I would find it They  lied I found happiness only in the one place the enjoyers of  this world told me to shun.

     venu - flute; vetra - and stick; kara - in hand;  barha-sekhara - wearing apeacocë-feather crown; ratna- sobhita - decorated with jewels; dayardra - melting with  mercy; drstika - glance; kim - whether?; vrajesa - O  king of Vraja; vana-malya-mandita - decorated with a forest  garland; drsti-marga - on the pathway of the eyes;  gamanah - walking; bhavisyasi - will You be.

 

 

     O Krsna will You holding a flute and stick and decorated  with peacocë-feather forest-garland and many jewel ornaments  and Your eyes filled with mercy appear before me¿ Will that day  come?

     sundarah - handsome; kamala-komalah - soft as a lotus;   padah - foot; nagarat-phana-caye - on the hoods of the king  of snakes; nanarta - danced; kim - how?;  taj - that; jaganti - the universes; tu - indeed;  yasomati…-suta - of Yasoda's son; svasanat - from the breath;   tu - indeed; prabhavanti - are born; kim - how?;  katham - how?

 

 

     Hou is it possible that two lotus feet softer than lotus  petals danced on Kaliya's hoods¿  Hou is it possible that  millions of universes came from the breath of a small boy in  Yasoda's arms?
