Sri Nrsimha-stotram

 

 

Prayer to Lord Nrsimha for Release From Worldly Debts

 

from the Nrsimha Purana

 

 

Text 1

 

 

devata-karya-siddhy-artham

     sabha-stambha-samudbhavam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     devata - the demigods; karya - to be done; siddhi - perfection;  artham - for the purpose; sabha - of the assembly; stambha - from a  pillar; samudbhavam - born; Sri-nrsimham - Sri Nrsimha; maha- viram - very powerful; namami - I bow down; rna - from debt;  muktaye - for freedom.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord Nrsimha,  who, to rescue the demigods, was born from a pillar in the palace.

 

 

Text 2

 

 

laksmyaliggita-vamagge

     bhaktanam vara-dayakam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     laksmi - the goddess of fortune; aliggita - embraced;  vama - left; agge - body; bhaktanam - of the devotees; vara-

dayakam. - the giver of blessings 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, who is embraced by Goddess Laksmi at His left and who  gives blessings to His devotees.

 

 

Text 3

 

 

antra-mala-dharam cagkha-

     cakrabjayudha-dharinam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     antra-mala-dharam - wearing a garland of entrails;  sagkha - conchshell; cakra - cakra; abja - lotus; ayudha - weapons;  dharinam - holding.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, who wears a garland of entrails and holds a conch,  cakra, lotus, and a host of weapons.

 

 

Text 4

 

 

smaranat sarva-papa-ghnam

     kadruja-visa-nacanam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     smaranat - by remembering; sarva - all; papa - sins;  ghnam - killing; kadruja - snakes; visa - poison;

nacanam - destruction.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha. The remembrance of Him destroys all sins and counteracts  the poison of snakes.

 

 

Text 5

 

 

simha-nadena mahata

     dig-danti-bhaya-nacanam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     simha - of a lion; nadena - by a roar; mahata - great; dig - of the  directions; danti - the elephants; bhaya - fear; nacanam - destruction.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, whose great lion-roar calms the fears of the elephants  who guard the directions.

 

 

Text 6

 

 

prahlada-varadam Sricam

     daityecvara-vidaranam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     prahlada - to Prahlada; vara - boons; dam - giving; Sri - of the  goddess of fortune; icam - the master; daitya - of the demons;  isvara - the king; vidaranam - ripping apart.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, the master of the goddess of fortune. He blessed  Prahlada and ripped apart the demons' king.

 

 

Text 7

 

 

krura-grahaih piditanam

     bhaktanam abhaya-pradam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     krura-grahaih - by the cruel planets;  piditanam - tormented; bhaktanam - of the devotees;

abhaya - fearlesness; pradam - giving.

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, who gives fearlessness to His devotees when they are  troubled by cruel planets.

 

 

Text 8

 

 

veda-vedanta-yajnecam

     brahma-rudradi-vanditam

Sri-nrsimham maha-viram

     namami rna-muktaye

 

     veda - of the Vedas; vedanta - of Vedanta; yajna - of  yaj.nas; icam - the master; brahma - Brahma; rudra - and Siva;  adi - beginning with; vanditam - bow down.

 

 

     To become free from debt I bow down before all-powerful Lord  Nrsimha, who is the master of yajYas, Vedas, and Vedanta.  Brahma, Siva, and all the demigods bow down before Him.

 

 

Text 9

 

 

ya idam pathate nityam

     rna-mocana-samjnitam

anrni jayate sadyo

     dhanam cighram avapnuyat

 

     yah - who; idam - this; pathate - recites; nityam - regularly;  rna - from debt; mocana - freedom; samjYitam - named;  anrni - free from debt; jayate - becomes; sadyah - at once;  dhanam - wealth; cighram - quickly; avapnuyat - attains.

 

 

     This prayer is called Rna-mocana (Prayer to Lord Nrsimha for  Release From Worldly Debts). One who regularly reads this prayer  is at once freed from debt. Quickly he becomes wealthy.
