SRI CAITANYA MAHAPRABHU

 

 

ACT ONE

 

Scene 1‑ Sankirtan.We show sankirtan in different parts of the world‑ ISKCON devotees performing Sankirtan at eg. Eiffel Tower, Paris; Trafalgar Square, London; Red Square, Moscow; Durban City Hall; Washington Capital; Sydney Opera House; Empire State Building, New York; Great Wall of China; Table Mountain, Cape Town; etc.

Scene culminates in a massive Sankirtan gathering.

 

Scene 2‑  Discussion between Kali and his associates.

Personification of Kali's assistants viz. sin, lust, anger, greed, illusion, pride and envy are discussing and they hear the sound of Sankirtan which becomes more and more intense. Kali tells his associates about Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's appearance, and they all go to see Him.

 

Scene 3‑ Discussion between Devotion, Conscience and Renunciation.

Conscience and Renunciation are disappointed in seeing so much deception and treachery in this world and Devotion consoles them, assuring that Caitanya Mahaprabhu has appeared. They see demigods coming in celestial spaceships and sages dancing in ecstasy due to Lord Caitanya' s iminent appearance.

 

Scene 4‑ Discussion between devotees with Advaita Acarya about the reaction of the people of Navadwipa towards Srivas Thakur's chanting of the Holy Name. Advaita Acarya' s dissappointment at seeing the condition of the world. His promise to make Lord Krsna appear on this earth to reestablish religiosity.

 

Scene 5‑ Advaita Acarya worshipping Krsna ‑ inviting Him to appear and deliver this world. Krsna appears to him and assures him that He will descend soon.

 

Scene 6‑ Devotees discussing about the appearance of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the age of Kali. Quotes from Srimad Bhagavatam and Mahabharat.

 

Scene 7‑ Rasa dance‑ Radha and Krsna' s discussion in the grove of Vrndavana. Krsna's desire to experience the mood of Srimati Radharani. Radha and Krsna unite as Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

 

Scene 8‑ Lunar eclipse. People taking bath in Ganges. Discussion between Advaita Acarya, Haridas Thakur and Srivas Thakur at Santipur.

 

Scene 9‑ Saci Mata with baby Nimai on her lap. Festival of  Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s appearance. Nilambar Chakravarty reads the Lord's astrological chart, and finds out that who He actually is, but hesitates to announce that. A wondering saint present there broadcasts the Lord's identity.

 

 

ACT TWO

 

Scene 1‑ When four months old Nimai is just about able to turn on His side, one day Jagannath Misra and Saci Mata see specific marks of Lord Visnu in the foot‑ prints on the floor. While breast‑ feeding Nimai, Saci Mata sees the marks on His feet and shows them to Jagannath Misra. He consults Nilambara Chakravarty. Nimai's name‑ giving ceremony.

 

Scene 2‑ Nimai' s name‑ giving ceremony.

 

Scene 3‑ The Lord forces all the women to chant the holy names on the plea of crying, and while they chant, the Lord smiles.

 

Scene 4‑ Mother Saci gives Nimai khai and sandesh to eat, but He starts to eat dirt, hiding from His mother. Mother Saci stops Him, but Nimai tells her that since all food‑stuffs are transformation of earth there is no harm in eating dirt. Mother Saci explains the difference.

Scene 5‑ A huge white snake coils around Nimai when He was playing in the courtyard. Seeing that Saci Mata faints and neighbours come running. After playing with Nimai for some time, the snake disappears.

 

Scene 6‑ Nimai eats the food‑stuffs of a brahmana guest three times, and then in confidence shows him His Balagopal form and delivers the brahmana from material engagement.

 

Scene 7‑ Nimai is taken away by two thieves. Realising that they were misled, they bring Him back home

 

 

ACT THREE

 

Scene 1‑ His mischievous dealings with the brahmanas while they are chanting Gayatri standing in the Ganges

 

Scene 2‑ Nimai demands from the girls their offerings to various demigods. claiming that He is the Lord of Ganga, Durga and Shiva.

 

Scene 3‑ The brahmanas come to Jagannath Misra to complain to him about Nimai. Jagannath Misra becomes very angry and wants to chastise Nimai, but becomes bewildered to see Him returning from school, and not having gone to the Ganga at all that day.

 

Scene 4‑ Nimai' s meeting with Laksmipriya, the beautiful daughter of Vallabhacarya. She worships Him with the paraphernalia she brought  to worship the demigods.

 

Scene 5‑ Jagannath Misra and Saci Mata finds that Viswarupa has left home to take sannyas. In great anguish they lament and the neighbours try to console them.

 

Scene 6‑ Jagannath Misra and Saci Mata decide to stop Nimai' s education feeling that if He became aware of the futility of  this material nature, He might also take sannyas.

 

Scene 7‑ Nimai sits upon the rejected pots in the pit where the remnants of the food‑stuffs are thrown. Nimai teaches His mother about transcendental knowledge.

 

Scene 8‑ Jagannath Misra dreams that a brahmana angrily chastises not him to chastise Nimai because He is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. But Jagannath Misra reasons that since He is his son, it is his duty to chastise Him.

 

 

ACT FOUR

 

Scene 1‑ Nityananda' s childhood pastimes.

 

Scene 2‑ Sannyasi visits Hadai pandit' s house.

 

Scene 3‑ Sannyasi begs Nityananda from His father.

 

Scene 4‑ Jagannath Misra' s disappearance.

 

Scene 5‑ Nimai brings gold and gives it to His mother.

 

Scene 6‑ A matchmaker convinces mother Saci that Laksmipriya, the daughter of Vallabhacarya, is the right match for Nimai.

 

Scene 7‑ Nimai' s wedding with Laksmipriya.

                 Encounter with Mukunda.

                 Encounter with Isvarapuri.

Scene 8‑ Lord Caitanya returns to Navadwipa  and receives the news of Laxmipriya' s disappearance.

 

Scene 9‑ People of Navadwipa discuss about Kesava Kashmiri. Scholars of Navadwipa depart in fear of Kesava Kashmiri. Kesava Kashmiri' s arrival in Navadwipa.

 

Scene 10‑ Nimai teaching on the banks of the Ganges while Kesava Kashmiri meets Him. Kesava Kashmiri' s defeat.

 

Scene 11‑ Sarasvati appears to Kesava Kashmiri and reveals to him that Nimai is non other than Krsna Himself. Kesava Kashmiri's surrender to Nimai.

 

Scene 12‑ Saci Mata' s request for Him to marry Visnupriya.

 

Scene 13‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu weds Visnupriya.

 

 

ACT FIVE

 

Scene 1‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu goes to Gaya.

 

Scene 2‑ Encounter with Isvara Puri.

 

Scene 3‑ Accepting initiation and exhibiting transcendental madness.

 

Scene 4‑ Return to Navadwipa.

 

Scene 5‑ Different people' s reaction to Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s transformation ‑ Advaita Acarya and Srivasa Thakur; also those of offensive people.

 

Scene 6‑ Starting of Sankirtan in Srivasa' s house.

 

Scene 7‑ Nimai reveals Himself as Visnu in the house of Srivas Thakur and bestows His mercy upon all His devotees. He asked His devotees to bring Sridar.

 

Scene 8‑ Sridar is brought to Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Caitanya Mahaprabhu reminds him how He used to forcibly take away banana flowers and pumpkins from him in the market. Mahaprabhu wants to grant any boon to Sridar but Sridar only desires to remain His eternal servant life after life.

 

Scene 9‑ Nityananda prabhu' s meeting with Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

 

Scene 10‑ Deliverance of Jagai and Madhai.

 

Scene 11‑ Caitanya Mahaprabhu explains about the Holy Name.

 

Scene 12‑ Brahmana' s curse to Caitanya Mahaprabhu that He will be bereft of all material happiness. Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s joy in hearing that curse.

 

Scene 13‑ A mendicant came to beg alms from the Lord' s house, but upon seeing the Lord dancing he also starts to dance and receives love of Godhead.

 

Scene 14‑ An astrologer, who knows everything about past, present, and future, through calculation and meditation, sees Caitanya Mahaprabhu as the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

 

 

ACT SIX

 

Scene 1‑ Sankirtan in every house.

 

Scene 2‑ Brahmana and Muslims complain to Chand Kazi. Chand Kazi' s order to stop Sankirtan. Breaking of mridanga.

Scene 3‑ Mahaprakash lila.

 

Scene 4‑ Devotee' s fear and their grief. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s inquiry about their unhappiness and His subsequent anger and order to invite everyone to participate in Sankirtan.

 

Scene 5‑ Sankirtan devotees march at night to Chand Kazi' s house with torches in hand.

 

Scene 6‑ Sankirtan devotees destruction of Kazi' s garden.

 

Scene 7‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu encounter with Chand Kazi.

 

Scene 8‑ Chand Kazi' s assurance, promise and surrender.

 

Scene 9‑ Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda dance in the Sankirtan at Srivas' house. When Srivas gets to know that his son has died, He asks the family members not to cry so as not to disturb Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s ecstasy. Caitanya Mahaprabhu finds out about the calamity and brings the son back to life. Son then speaks about transcendental knowledge.

 

 

ACT SEVEN

 

Scene 1‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s transcendental madness, calling out the name of the gopis instead of Krsna.

 

Scene 2‑ Students criticism of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.  Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s anger and chastisement of them.

 

Scene 3‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s decision to take sannyas.

 

Scene 4‑ Meeting with Kesava Bharati.

 

Scene 5‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s leaving home at night.

 

Scene 6‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s begging Kesava Bharati to give Him sannyas.

 

Scene 7‑ Shaving His head and people coming from all directions to see, hearing the news that He is going to take sannyas.

 

Scene 8‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s desire to go to Vrndavana.

 

Scene 9‑ Nityananda misleads Him and brings Him to Santipur.

Scene 2‑ Ksira‑ chora Gopinath temple‑ Nityananda prabhu narrates the story of Gopinath.

 

Scene 3‑ Saksi Gopal temple ‑ story of Saksi Gopal.

 

Scene 4‑ Nityananda' s breaking of Sri Caitanya's danda.

 

Scene 5‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s anger and His running towards Jagannath temple.

 

Scene 6‑ Encounter with Sarvabhauma Bhattacharya.

Scene 7‑Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is carried to Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya' s house.

 

Scene 8‑ Nityananda prabhu and others arrive in Jagannath temple and inquire about Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Mukunda' s meeting with Gopinath Acarya.

 

Scene 9‑ They go to Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya' s house and meet Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu regains conciousness after hearing the Holy Name.

 

 

ACT NINE

 

Scene 1‑ Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya' s concern about Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu' s sannyas ashram.

 

Scene 2‑ Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya proposes to instruct Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu on Vedanta.

 

Scene 3‑ Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhhu defeats Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya.

 

Scene 4‑ Sarvabhauma Bhattacarya heartbroken due to his defeat. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu shows him His four‑ armed Narayana form, then His six‑armed form.
