Because the discussion still continues and devotees seem to be really into

the subject matter, and the question asked was to be taken seriously, I

would add something from my experience. That should also make clear the

nature of my previous comments.

About 6 years ago I started to teach Vedic philosophy and astrology in one

of the most popular New Age schools in Poland. That brought about my contact

with many people interested in astrology, and quite many of them in

philosopy also, as it is impossible to understand jyotisha without

philosophy. Also many of them brought the theme of possible war, or "end of

the world" into attention. I really didn't like the mood it was done with.

Sensational, speculative, it was going to create some panical thoughts and

feelings amongst listeners. I didn't like that at all. I wanted to fill our

classes with philosophy, astrological principles, and their practical

implications those people might use in their own life.

At the same time I was participating in quite intense preaching programs in

Poland. One night coming back from a big festival, I was alone with our

Maharaja in his camper-car. He asked me for already third or fourth time a

question (as we were discussing that for several months till that day) what

would happen in his Ketu Mahadasa. That day I had an insight that actually

during the period of his Ketu Mahadasa also many other people to whom I had

given any consultations before also have some "not easy" period at that

time. I was also one of them.

That started to build up in my mind the impression that it might be some

social issue, not only individual ones. But it was highly speculative,

therefore I was trying to treat this assumption very cautiously. I was doing

many charts at that time, and interesting thing was that many of those

people were not Polish. They came from USA, Australia or New Zealand,

Western Europe, South Africa or India. And let say about 80% of those people

had "uneasy periods" during the years 1997-2003. Some continued farther,

some began earlier, but most had common period during 1997-2003.

Now, the very important thing in any research is that you have to interpret

the data according to some hypothesis, to confirm it or deny. But the

researcher can't become a slave of the hypothesis claiming it to be the

truth just for any reason. That would not be honest, and he would always

find out anything to support his theory, and would discard everything

against it (see Forbidden Archeology for examples of that phenomenon).

So, I was getting more and more data that was supporting the assumption that

it would be social issue. But I was affraid that I will become the slave of

the theory. Therefore I was looking for any other astrological reference

that might help to check the theory.

I thought that social issues are somewhat connected to movements of planets

(transits) as laid out in Brhat Samhita by Varahamihira. The two Vedic

planets that are slowest in their movements are Jupiter (Guru) and Saturn

(Sani). They should reflect the situation to some degree.

I checked the present movements of Jupiter and Saturn in the stars.

This is very obvious way of predicting general events. The planets

going around delineate certain rythms of life for living entities, and

sometimes create specific situations by their mutual relationships.

There are different stars and planets have some relationships with

them. Just like we are going to different places and feel in different

ways in them, in the same way planets have their debilitation,

very inimical, ininmical, neutral, friendly, very friendly, mulatrikona

(very promoting), and exaltation places in the different stars.

To make it possibly short.

JUPITER

Jupiter is a planet of growth, development, expansion, optimism,

positive thinking, assistance, help, inspiration, higher knowledge,

moral understanding, religion. It signifies guru, children, money,

economy, auspiciousness, good karmic reactions, opportunities. It is very

close to family, motherhood, traditions. It's warm, symphatetic.

Jupiter is exalted in Cancer - sign of the Moon, which signifies

mother, family, etc. That's why it is so important for the gurukula to

have strong families, social and economical stability, backup of love,

mothers' security and respect. It is so good for the child if he gets

proper initial training and example from the parents. It has properly

developed emotions. It is very good pupil then.

Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn. It is ruled by Saturn. Saturn

signifies very low natures (very limited understanding, but important

here), sudras, thieves, dirty people of very bad karma, lame, sick,

ugra-karma.

From the other side it signifies time, limitations, longevity, death,

suffering. It teaches renunciation, giving up material desires, staying

aloof from people and society, discipline, control of the sences. But it's

also cold, negative, pesimistic, and scary. It signifies yogis,

renunciates, recluses. It is also impersonal to some degree.

So debilitated Jupiter has a very difficult time. He doesn't find any

good soil for his teachings. People he meets are either very degraded

with no interest for progress to get their bad reactions, or people who

frustrated with their pursuits with karma, have now obsession of jnana.

They ran away from life, from others, from relations, society, etc.

They just speculate about the nature of suffering, and try to give up

their personality and responsibility. People of cold heart.

Jupiter in Capricorn will make people pessimistic, will bring them bad

reactions, everything would become difficult, they would not trust

each other, they would loose their hope. No good reactions beginning

from the mind. Worse social relations, lack of care for children,

mothers and wise elders. Loss of tradition and higher principles.

Falldown of economy. They have to fight because of scarcity mentality.

Loss of authorities, or their falldowns. Lack of honesty, purity,

sincerity. No good vision. Defaming religious and moral people.

SATURN

Saturn signifies longevity and death. Discipline to attain one's goal

with great effort and strive. Ability to follow principles, rules and

law. It also represents stability, structure, order, sequence.

Saturn is exalted in Libra, ruled by Venus. Venus is brahminical planet

but having more to do with material knowledge. Venus represents

harmony, beauty, satisfaction. One needs to have a lot of material

knowledge and expertise to be able to satisfy his senses in harmonious

way, that doesn't break law, or principles. Libra signifies partnership

and proper relations. It teaches cooperation and interdependance.

Harmonious, peacefull and healthy life promotes longevity and

well-being.

Saturn is debilitated in Aries ruled by Mars. It is a sign and planet

of individuality and basic instincts. Rivarly, competition, of being

first and the best. Impulse, strenght, superiority. Courage, bravity,

boldness. It signifies battlefield. Longevity is debilitated on the

battlefield. Often lack of rules, or creating rules for oneself.

Inability to follow rules in passionate rush. Destruction of structures

and order.

Just Jupiter during his debilitation period is quite bad. The same with

the Saturn.

But I asked the question to myself:

What happens when the two simultanously are debilitated?

Saturn goes around the zodiac during a period of about 30 years. It gives

average of two years and a half for one sign. Jupiter circulates 12

stars in a period of about 12 years. One year for one sign.

I searched through the present century and found the following.

I. In April 1910 Saturn entered Aries and stayed there for almost three

years. In January 1914 Jupiter entered Capricorn and stayed there for

one year.

in 1912 until 1913.

In the summer 1914 until 1918 starts first world war. 20 millions people

death, 18 millions wounded.

II. In December 1937 Jupiter went into Capricorn for one year. Saturn

entered Aries in May 1939 and stayed there for two years and a half.

(Comment by Abhinandanda Nitai das: In the 22.may 1939 nazi Germany

and fasist Italy conclude contract about military and political corporation.

On the 1. September 1939 Germany attack Poland and Second world war starts.

50 millions people death, 35 millions wounded.

III. In 60's and 70's the two events were separated from each other by

three to four years.

IV. Next time these two occur simultaneously will be: in 1997 Jupiter

will stay in Capricorn for the whole year. In April 1998 Saturn will

enter Aries and will stay there for almost three years.

(Comment by Abhinandanda Nitai das: So in April 1998 we will have the same

(astrological ) situation like 50 years ago when Second WW starts. Now only

one question comes to my mind. Do I belief in Vedic Astrology or not. In

case I

do, then there is not a lot of place for speculation if something will

happen or not.

We only don’t now in which degree and how. If we just see have people are

more sinful now then before Second WW and that there was not bigger war

after

second WW, would it be unusually if all this bad karma would start to

work? )

So, this is some data and if we were to make some extrapolation, we could

conclude that we could expect some "social issue" that would be difficult.

But that is only theory, and only hypothesis.

This year saw some interesting symptoms of debilitated Jupiter, like passing

away of some very respected and very popular personalities, that might be

understood as moral authorities, serious recent problems on stock markets,

etc.

P.S.

I don't want that anybody would take my text as any kind of predictions, or

anything like that. Guru-Krsna assumed that the Astrology conference is

serious enough to discuss such subject without unnecessary gossips, rumors,

etc. This is meant only for serious exchange of ideas between devotees

interested in this subject matter.
