Soaps in general are made from a standard recipes using 80 percent of tallow (animal fat) and 20 percent of cocos or palmcerneltriglycerides (oils from coconuts or palm trees).

You can see this on the package listed as Sodiumtallowat or any other substance containing tallowat.

Plant based soaps contain Sodiumcocoate or sodiumpalmitat instead of the tallowat.

Regarding Shampoos, shower gels and bubble bath: Watch out for Hydrolyzed animal proteins, hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed elastin... This substances are produced by boiling animal skin in sulfuric acid and are listed on the ingredients list.

This animal proteins are also contained in many dish washing liquids. Try also to avoid Tallowglycerides.

In Europe devotees started to make their own cosmetics. The brand name is Cintamani Cosmetics. In America I know about Uncle Harries Products which are also very nice and free of animal products.

I have found a URL for one of PETA's web pages regarding animalderived ingredients.

  www.envirolink.org/orgs/peta/shopguid/ingredie.htm

This offers an AZ listing of all objectional ingredients, though since they are a vegan organization, they would consider any milkbased ingredients objectional also.

Sure. If you give us your fax number or address we will send you our catalogs and if you like you can also visit our web page although it is under construction and only few things are implemented at present.

The URL is: Http://www.internet.no/vedic

(still under construction)

We are also planing to get our own COM conference regarding animal free products, natural medicines and alternative therapies in the near future.
